Sammanfattning
The USB protocol has since its invention provided computer users with easy plug-and-play solutions for using e.g. keyboards, mouses and various other devices. Naturally this does not come for free. A special kind of attack called a BadUSB attack can be used to execute malicious code. A hacker could potentially modify any USB firmware of e.g. a USB drive, a USB keyboard etc. and make it execute the malicious code upon plugging it in. Since the code will run in the kernel this should be considered a great security issue. This thesis will examine the possibility of having a hypervisor to separate the USB driver from the rest of the OS. The project will take a look at different kinds of virtualization techniques involving a hypervisor and examine their suitability for solving the problem.
