Sammanfattning
In this Master’s thesis project, the primary aim is to quantify and predict the change in the inductances and the Q factor of WPT coils due to the presence of surrounding objects (both FOs and FMs) of different materials and shapes. This is done by accurately measuring the inductances and resistive loss for the coils subject to these different conditions, in a typical WPT setup. For this characterization exercise, a sizeable collection of objects of interest is already available at nok9. However, more objects should be identified and added to this collection. Based on the measurement, interesting cases (e.g., of high losses) can be examined further using simulation tools. This study is expected to contribute to the knowledge bank regarding how surrounding objects affect WPT. For example, when smartphone orientation changes during the charging process, different parts of the phone (with different components) is exposed to the magnetic field. This knowledge can then be used as guidelines to design systems that are better harmonized to their surroundings.
