Integrated Electronic Systems
Integrated circuits and electronic systems are strategic assets enabling digital transformation across a wide range of applications such as autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things (IoT), 6G communications, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and high-performance computing.
Research at the Integrated Electronic Systems (IES) division combines system-level and circuit-level design to address these emerging application domains. Our work focuses on the design and realization of integrated circuits (chips) using advanced nanometer CMOS technologies. This includes digital signal processors, RF and millimeter-wave front-ends, data converters, Chiplets, and complex mixed-signal systems integrating both analog and digital functionalities.
Research Environment
IES hosts the SSF multidisciplinary research center ClassIC (Chalmers–Lund Advanced Semiconductor System Design Center) and participates in the Vinnova Competence Centre NextG2Com. The division is also closely connected to ELLIIT (Excellence Center at Linköping–Lund in Information Technology), a strategic research environment focuses on advanced research in IT and mobile communication.
Education and Industry Collaboration
Education is a core component of the division’s activities. IES hosts an international master’s programme in Embedded Electronics Engineering (EEE), offering a course package that covers analog, digital, RF, and mixed-signal circuit design, combined by research-oriented courses in the respective areas. IES has strong collaborations with world-leading companies. These partnerships span teaching, master’s degree projects, industrial PhD programmes, and joint research projects.
