Doctoral studies at LTH require four years of studies. Since almost all PhD students are involved in undergraduate teaching, it usually takes five years to complete at PhD. During the studies, the candidate writes a doctoral thesis which is publically defended. Doctoral studies include both course work and active research. It is possible to take a Licentiate degree after two years of study.

Industrial PhD training is a special form of research training where a person at a company, within the framework of their employment at the company, has the opportunity to undergo research training with supervision at EIT. There are different grants that can be applied for jointly by the department and the company to finance the activity. Contact the researcher or research group that may be of interest.

If you would like to know more, you are welcome to contact the Director of Third Cycle Studies, Michael Lentmaier.
