My research project in my PhD targets systems where low-power intelligent sensors are connected by beyond-5G/6G wireless systems. These connected intelligent sensors collaborate with the wireless infrastructure (e.g., large intelligent surfaces) to perform distributed sensing of a surrounding.
Combination of information fusion and machine learning is used to enable more efficient and robust understanding of the environment. More specifically, the PhD project will combine advanced technologies in wireless communication, computer vision, and machine learning to efficiently perform, e.g., simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) tasks. These types of tasks are typically very challenging, given the large amount of sensor data to be processed, the high cost in exchanging information among sensors, and the highly complex algorithms adopted to deliver high accuracy. The PhD project aims to tackle the challenges all the way from the design of low-complexity algorithms to implementation of energy efficient processors/accelerators.
The project is funded by Vetenskapsrådet.
I am open to collaborate on projects (particularly on hardware design for machine learning). Please let me know if you are interested by email.
