Sammanfattning: The proposed project is aimed at examining how techniques and tools in coding theory can be exploited and further developed in the areas of post-quantum cryptography and cryptanalysis of symmetric key ciphers and hash functions. In particular, we look at problems like investigation of the security of existing public key cryptography resisting attacks from quantum computers. This includes code-based public key cryptosystems. We investige new constructions of public key primitives resisting attacks from quantum computers, with the hope of finding more efficient solutions than existing ones. Furthermore, we consider how to use techniques from coding theory to improve attacks on symmetric key primitives like stream ciphers and hash functions. Iterative decoding methods using for example message passing techniques (as in decoding of LDPC codes) as an attack method in cryptanalysis will be further examined.
