Sammanfattning
In IPv6 SLAAC (Stateless Address Auto- Configuration) and DHCPv6 is used to acquire an IP address in the network. The neighbor discovery protocol based on which SLAAC works is given by RFC 4861. But because a list of nodes’ addresses is not maintained when RFC 4861 is used, DHCPv6 is used nowadays. Besides, the RFC 4861 has a few assumptions on multicasting and state of the hosts in the network, which do not apply anymore to real time mobile networks. But SLAAC is more suitable for scalability and transient networks, as in case of wireless mobile networks. The draft-chakrabarti-nordmark-6man-efficient-nd implementation aims at optimizing the RFC 4861 and improving the efficiency of the wireless network.
Project Goals:
- Study and simulate the behavior in M2M and wireless networks (802.11) performed with NDP on Linux.
- Observe other possible findings that the registration method is useful for
- Identify any deficiencies in the solutions and ways to improve it in the case of Voice over LTE and M2M networks.
