Abstract
Technology advancement is envisioned for 5G ultra-reliable low latency communication (URLLC). For communications systems with very low error rates, conventional simulation based on Monte Carlo (MC) analysis takes too long time which hinders the evaluation and introduction of new features. This cannot simply be solved by just adding more computational power so new methods to significantly speed up the simulation time are needed. The aim of this Master’s thesis work is to evaluate importance sampling as a mean to significantly reduce the number of required simulation runs and facilitate the simulation of systems with ultra-low error events.
