Welcome to the course in Network Architecture and Performance!
This is an advanced course for C, D, E, I, Wireless, and Erasmus students. The course will be completely in English and you are expected to work in a very international environment where students have very different background.
Course content:
- Models of Users and Back-ends
- Wireless communication links and networks
- Wireless access networks on Earth
- Underwater networks
- Interplanetary networks
- Internet of Everything
- High-speed access networks
- Ad-hoc networks
- Resource-constrained networks
- Delay-tolerant networking
- Data dissemination
The prerequisites for the course are basic knowledge on probability theory and statistics, and basic knowledge of Internet protocols and systems.
The course is focused on system design of network architectures for networked applications (mainly with wireless access). The main target system is ”beyond ordinary Internet”. Some examples of applications are self-driving vehicles, Industry 4.0, Internet of things, communication in space (such as Mars expeditions), delay tolerant applications (such as data collection in cattle farms or rural areas), mission-critical applications (such as control over the cloud), and underwater sensor networks.
The course theory will be focused on the project, in which project groups propose network technologies and protocols for a specific networked application.
There is NO text book! The course litterature will be based on scientific articles.
Welcome!
