Sammanfattning
The overall goal of this Master’s thesis work is to understand how the number of base stations and the number of RISs trade off against each other based on cost and achievable performance. We also want to investigate algorithms for different configurations of RIS. The target scenario is a large indoor office environment and a deployment of M base stations and N RISs. To achieve this goal, we aim to use ray-tracing simulations in Wireless InSite software, create a model of a target environment in CAD along with multiple objects, and further use Matlab for post-processing of simulated results. As mentioned above, a RIS comprises a large number of radiating elements, which jointly can be considered as a physically large reflective surface. Ray-tracing simulations of RIS-assisted systems are very processing heavy. To extract an accurate model, we must have the right simulation details when modelling in CAD. Also, the Matlab processing of massive simulated results is a challenge.
