Sammanfattning
Future communication equipment will use radio units composed of antenna arrays, each with a very large number of antenna elements. This is motivated by the need for Massive MIMO systems, which will enable high antenna gains in desired directions (or spatial location in general) as well as spatial domain extension of the common radio frequency resource, so as to obtain higher efficiencies in the use of a scarce resource, the radio frequency spectrum. High quality control of radio frequency signals is required to achieve the aforementioned functionality. This thesis work will implement and verify a method to achieve the required accuracy on radio frequency signals. A draft proposal on the relevant algorithms exists, and the required hardware is available, which includes instruments and an anechoic chamber for practical test and measurements.
