General
You need to signup individually in the moodle Elearning system to take these tests. From the results of these tests your final grading for this course will be computed (you can here use benefit from extra points received from your project reports).
There will be 5 short quizzes available via http://elearning.eit.lth.se/moodle. The purpose of these quizzes is to test your overall understanding in 5 different areas.
You have 2 regular attempts to pass the quizzes. You can do a quiz whenever you want after it is made available. But you will have at most two hours from starting a quiz until you have to submit your answers. All quizzes close on October 30.
If you fail a quiz 2 times you have to contact the course leader by email. Likely you will be given a third chance or you will be called for an oral questioning on the subject of the quiz. BUT the latter may have negative impact on your maximal grade. One oral exam will cap you maximal final grade at 4 and three occasions will cap your maximum final grade at 3.
Grading of the quizes will most likely be done using the principles of the procedure in this document (not fully updated yet for 2015) but the given thresholds are indicative and subdue to change during the final grading in October.
The results of your quizzes will not be posted here due to privacy reasons. Use the EIT Elearning system to track your progress.
NOTE 1: Signup and login on http://elearning.eit.lth.se/moodle/login/index.php
NOTE 2: Quizzes that are left open (that is you started with the quiz but not finished or submitted it will be closed after two hours. It is a bit unclear is such forced submission is counted as an attempt or not. I watch the submission process on a regular basis and will remove attempts that were left open and see that they are not counted. Be observant but it is better to avoid such situations as it slows things down for you.
NOTE 3: Oct 30 is the correct deadline for the quizzes even if the quizzes themselves show a later date. I programmed to keep the Moodle system available with the given setup in case people show up that on legitimate reasons (e.g. illness) could not meet the deadline. It's a hassle to open the system on a person by person basis.
NOTE 4: If you think something is wrong with a quiz question you are encouraged to dicuss this with the course leader.
Reading Instructions
Do not rush over the questions, you have two hours! Some questions are simple but others may require you to think a while. Of the possible answers you have to choose the best alternative (in case you think more than one makes sense). Use the material from the course slides, primarily and the additional material. You may also consult other literature and that.
Additional instructions how you can prepare for the quizzes 2,3,4, and 5 will be released via the links in the table below.
