Course Description
Welcome to ETSF05 Internet protocols
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, LTH has decided that the default course delivery mode for the fall-21 is online. This means that lectures and tutorials will be given online. There is an assignment that will be done on site in the E-building in small groups to avoid spreading the virus. We hope to be able to enjoy face-to-face teaching in study period 2, but we will have to wait and see.
This course is a continuation of ETS130, Kommunikationssystem from the first year on the C-program and ETSF15 for some other programs. The Internet has become the global infrastructure for the vast majority of communication on our planet, tying together the two traditional areas of tele- and computer communication. This course provides an overview of the core protocols that make up the Internet and dives deeper into some of them, especially TCP and IP. The course also provides a good introduction to routing, both conceptially and practically.
We use the LU CANVAS platform for submission of project reports and general news around the course. In fact, the CANVAS pages is the main portal for the course, here we mainly point in that direction.
The course also uses the elearning platform moodle. In moodle you will find online examination components and submission of reports etc. You log in with your STIL-ID and an enrolment key which is given in the first lecture. Moodle is used for the online exams.
Co-teaching with ETSF10
ETSF05 runs over study period 1 and 2. During period 2, the course is co-taught with ETSF10, bar a few minor differences. ETSF10 is a voluntary course for D4, the Mwir program etc. The two courses have the same name but there are some differences, be aware of this, especially when working in moodle. This course website will be the common platform for both courses.
