The course Measurement and Modeling of the Central Nervous System Function is deeply rooted within the disciplines of both medicine and engineering. This is going to be reflected in the lectures, which are covering the following themes:
- The underlying biology: How neural signals arise and propagate, and how nerve cells are coupled into functional networks.
- Modelling: How single nerve cells and populations of nerve cells can be modelled on different levels of abstraction.
- Measurement: How signals of single nerve cells and populations of nerve cells can be measured, in vitro and in vivo, with invasive and non-invasive techniques.
- Analysis: How measured signals can be analyzed with methods for signal processing and statistics.
In the course we aim to show a clear coupling to up-to-date research. We therefore invite a number of guest lecturers from Lund university to provide interesting insights and inspiration during the course.
