Course Information
Welcome to the home page for the Modern Wireless Systems course - 5G and Beyond 2023. Here, you will find information concerning everything that is contained in this course.
All parts of the course will be run mostly onsite: lectures, exercises, and laboratory sessions. However, a few sessions may be given in an online format due to conference travel and other errands. For this purpose, we will need to sort out legal questions such as Zoom session links and pre-recorded lectures.
In 2022, the course has been significantly reconsidered and evolved. Since then, students have worked with actual 5G measurements recorded from the EIT 5G base station during their laboratory sessions. We made laboratory work compulsory to encourage students to gain the maximum from this experience. After investigating the course efficiency, we decided to bring back the final written exam. To earn 7.5 HP, students must pass the compulsory laboratory sessions 2 HP and the written exam, which gives 5.5HP.
The laboratory sessions will be Matlab-based, where students will closely work with the 5G Toolbox and 5G measurements to strengthen their understanding of essential concepts taught in the course. So, it is vital to have a proper university-supported Matlab license. If you do not have one, please do not hesitate to contact the course coordinator.
