This project is funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) and it is performed in collaboration with Stanford University. Several methods to shape the spectrum of a multicarrier system have been proposed: windowing, spectral compensation, transmit filtering, design of different basis functions. The goal of this project is to cast all the methods in a unifying framework to form a basis for evaluation, comparison and optimal design. Instead of tackling out-of-band egress as the challenge at hand, the project focuses on the ultimate goal of maximising the throughput under given spectral constraints, which involves formulating and solving a class of constrained semidefinite programs.
