Sammanfattning

In a surveillance system the resources (audio, video, metadata etc.) can be distributed in many locations, both internally stored on the cameras and externally on different servers. This provides high level of confidence and performance, but also results in higher complexity in the system. The resources needs to be found and managed by the clients in an efficient way. Since the system also have security and synchronization requirements, the complexity increases even more.

The goal is to find a way for keeping track of distributed resources in the network. The solution should include efficient search methods for resources in the network, and efficient retrieval of these when needed. Since data could be fragmented, it should be possible to assemble the data throughout the network. The event of communication failure and/or data loss should be considered. The choice of method should meet the security aspects, as well as the synchronization requirements. Other aspects to consider is lifetime management and resource conflict resolution.
