Sammanfattning
In a modern pulse-Doppler radar, there are several methods to distinguish fake targets caused by chaff from real targets using signal processing, such as analyzing the Doppler spectrum of the target. The rotation of the vortexes affect the Doppler frequencies of the waves reflected from the chaff. The Doppler spectrum from the chaff and the aircraft will therefore be different. Flight tests are usually conducted to try these methods, which require a lot of resources and are costly, thus prolonging the development time. For that reason, a way to simulate the distribution of chaff would be preferred. The model will be validated by comparing simulated data with recorded data from flight tests with chaff. The data is recorded from a pulse Doppler radar in short integration intervals (bursts).
