Sammanfattning
In the next generation of wireless systems for cellular communications, called 5G, frequency bands above 6 GHz and into the mm-wave frequency range above 30 GHz will be utilized. Using these higher frequency bands can help to alleviate the problem of limited spectrum, and can also bring higher data rates. For 5G Radios due to small cell area the number of deployed units is always going to be high. Thus, technology advancement in efficient, low power and low cost small cell radio base station is always in high demand. And for these small cell radio and for Advanced Antenna System (AAS), power Amplifier efficiency and performance is of great concern for overall system performance. Due to the non-linear behavior, memory-effect and cross talk in the PAs which are different for different technologies, DPD application runs limited. So far there is no robust algorithm to solve the problem of cross talk in PAs and in general to solve all three issues at the same time. The thesis work is related to the field of research towards development of an algorithm or improves existing DPD algorithm along with an FPGA based hardware implementation in order to compensate for both non-linearity and crosstalk in Advanced Antenna System (AAS) and the performance evaluation of 5G mm wave radio with multiple closely packed front ends with DPD process in baseband. This thesis work will be performed in Ericsson, Lund; under Business Unit Radio Access Department and it is a part of the development future Small Cell Radio Base Stations.
