Sammanfattning
Important clues to the behavior of the ESP at various electrode spacing could be obtained by a better understanding of the details of the electrical field in the inter-electrode gap. To this end it is suggested to perform a numerical study with finite element methods (FEM) to solve the coupled partial differential equations for the electric field and charge distribution. The results can then be compared and calibrated against some experimental data and analytical approximations obtained at the Alstom research lab in Växjö.
