Project(s)
There are two projects/assignments in both ETSF05 and ETSF10. The projects are described below:
Data centre networks
The first project, data centre networks, provides a hands on experience with software defined networks (SDN), a technology that renders networks flexible and configurable. The underlying technology is also a central aspect of building data centres through virtualisation of resources.
ETSF05 does this assignment in study period 1 whereas ETSF10 does this project in study period 2.
The project comprises two parts, one walk through introduction to learn how to work with the Linux kernel virtualisation and also learn the basics of the mininet emulator. The second part presents some configuration tasks and experiments to carry out. A report should be written and handed in, answering the questions posed in the two parts. The assignment can be carried out alone or in groups of two students.
There are 6 purpose configured Linux computers in room E:4155 that are to be used for the assignment. In order to keep proper distance, there is a booking scheme where a group can make a booking in the room once each week.
Deadline ETSF05 Friday October 16.
Deadline ETSF10 Friday November 27
Further information is to be found on moodle.
