Examination
There are two exams for the course; one mandatory on-line quiz and one optional written exam.
On-line quiz (mandatory)
The on-line quiz is mandatory, and passing it will give you grade 3.
The on-line quiz is to be carried out individually! No collaboration of any sort! You can complete the on-line exam from the comfort of your home if you wish to. If you use a public computer (like the ones in the computer rooms), you need to isolate yourself!
The on-line quiz is an open book quiz, so you may consult the course material, perform on-line searches or look up answers in the literature you have at hand.
You are given a virtually unlimited number of attempts to successfully pass the quiz, and the time limit per attempt is very generous. However, due to the high passing score limit and the detailed nature of the questions, it is still very hard to pass the quiz in just a few attempts. You are expected to attempt this quiz many times before you pass. Be prepared for this. Start early, do not wait until the last day to register for the quiz.
The quiz is designed to encourage deep learning, so please use it in that way for your own benefit. The questions are often quite intricate, and you will generally not find the answer directly stated in the course literature. However, a thorough understanding of the different subjects and techniques will, together with some thought, let you identify the correct answers.
Study between attemps. You are encouraged to iterate through many relatively quick attempts, rather than maximizing the time used per attempt.
Delay between attempts: 2 hours
Time limit per attempt: 8 hours
Number of questions per attempt: 18
Questions are randomized: Yes
Passing score: 90%
Total score per attempt displayed: Yes
Score per question displayed: Yes
Next on-line exam opens: 2019-10-16 at 18.00.
Next on-line exam closes: 2019-10-23 at 23.59 (1 minute before midnight).
You need to register (tentaanmälan) for the written exam only.
You do not register for the online exam.
However, if you want to take the online exam in April or August, please drop me an email so that I know about it and can enable the exam (make it visible to you in Moodle).
Course key code for registration: same as password for lecture slides (or email me).

Do not panic if you encounter malfunctions, errors, ambiguities or strange behavior.
Not that this is expected, but if you do find anomalies, please drop me an email as soon as possible so I can sort them out.
Also, feedback on the exam is much appreciated, so please feel free to email me.
Written exam (optional)
The written exam is not mandatory, but you need to take this to get grade 4 or 5.
If your written exam improves your grade from the on-line quiz, your course grade will be adjusted accordingly. You will retain your grade from the on-line quiz otherwise, even if your written exam is worse than your on-line quiz.
Next written exam:
- 2019-11-01, 8.00 - 13.00 in MA 10C.
