Baktash Behmanesh is the course coordinator for three courses offered at EIT:
EITF50: Introduction to Wireless Systems
The objective of this course is to furnish students with comprehensive knowledge of high-frequency electronic circuits (also known as radio frequency circuits) and measurement tools, especially those utilized in wireless radio communications. The course covers basic circuit building blocks, their significant functions, and design characteristics. This not only develops a strong foundational understanding of the radio transceiver (base station or user equipment of a wireless communication system) but also illuminates the requirements imposed on the circuits employed at both link ends of a wireless system. This understanding helps engineers gain deep insights into the architecture and design of wireless radio systems.
In addition to introducing advanced measurement techniques, the course includes practical laboratory experiments with spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers to examine the behaviors of individual circuit blocks and components. The course also offers a separate laboratory session dedicated to the system-level simulation of fundamental concepts in wireless radio systems using modern CAD tools.
ETIN35 and ETIN40: Integrated-Circuit Project I-II
These two courses aim to familiarize the students with the design flow of an integrated circuit. The students are divided into groups and they work on a project starting from circuit-level specifications and then performing literature study, design, simulation, chip layout, post-layout simulations, fabrication, and eventually measurements.
