A lab manual is handed out at the first lab seminar.
Course Composition:
- 12 x 2h lectures
- 2 x 2h lab seminar
- 3 lab assignments with 3 x 3h supervised lab time
Examination:
Pass Grade (3):
- Presence at at least 3 lab sessions and at the lab seminar.
- A written lab assignment report per lab group, with your own solutions to the lab assignments.
Higher grade (4 or 5):
- A written examination is required.
Course Goals:
While digital techniques become undoubtedly efficient, most of the electronic systems still have to deal with analog signals, e.g. the radio channel in a wireless system. High performance A/D and D/A converters are the key building blocks in such a system. It is also desirable to move the analog-digital interface towards the front-end in a software-defined radio. In designing A/D and D/A converters, there are big challenges in speed, dynamic range, area, and power consumption. Embedded A/D and D/A converters become increasingly important due to the trend of system-on-chip. This course is motivated to give the basic knowledge of A/D and D/A converters and also its state-of-the-art development.
