Beskrivning
An integral part of any iterative engineering design process is data collection, and Formula Student is no different. In the fast paced world of Formula Student, where innovation and performance meet, the importance of reliable, high-quality data is paramount. A data logger is not merely an accessory, but a central component to capturing crucial data points of the vehicle in both dynamic and static conditions. Recording parameters such as speed, position, temperature, system states, error codes, battery voltages and power draw allows the team to gain insight into vehicle behavior and health. The collected data help tune both the parameters of the suspension, motor and inverter mapping as well as give insight into inherent characteristics of the current design. Better understanding the current design helps drive the development in the years to come. The data is also used to understand and debug electrical and software system behavior ranging from unwanted input response to complete shutdown of the vehicle. Hence, the purpose of the project is to design and produce a prototype data logger for use in the Formula Student project at Lund University.
