Computer systems are becoming smaller and more complex. Most computer systems are embedded systems to control cars, trains, telecommunication systems, and aircrafts. It is therefore important that computer systems are functioning properly and that they do it throughout its lifetime. However, it is increasingly difficult to ensure that computer systems work as intended throughout its life. There are already problems with the so-called "No Trouble Found (NTF)," which means that a computer system during operation proves to be incorrect or indicates that something is wrong but when the system is brought to a workshop, no fault can be found. Costs for this are high. NTF and aging electronics are major challenges in complex systems. Because computer systems are often the brain itself must ensure that the brain works.
