Vision

The vision of the center is to be a world class research facility for the development of system solutions on silicon for wireless communication devices that ensure the competitiveness of the participating companies and Swedish industry. By combining a number of strong research groups, focusing both on implementation and more theoretical perspectives, with world-leading industrial companies, the center will develop interdisciplinary solutions that significantly enhance state-of-the-art in the area.

The mission is to provide system design solutions on silicon that make possible efficient future multi-standard devices with concurrent connectivity. In addition, the center will provide Swedish industry with highly educated researcher and engineers in the relevant areas. The center will contribute to industry growth, academic research and education in the field of system design on silicon for wireless terminals.

The strategy of the industrial excellence center is that the participating research groups work in close cooperation with industry partners to attack relevant research issues, with both academic and industrial impact. Long time financing will make it possible to take a more holistic view of the area, leading to more innovative solutions. To utilize the different perspectives in academia and industry, a continuous exchange of people and ideas will be employed and specific mechanisms to promote it will be developed. The center will be connected to the efforts of the emerging cluster initiative, “Mobile Heights”, involving the regional authority of Skåne and local companies working in the field of wireless communications to ensure that the strengths of the triple helix concept are fully utilized.
