Abstract
As mobile phone users become increasingly sophisticated, it is important to
offer them high quality, innovative and personal services in order to become
successful. In the PC world, instant messaging has become a huge success
with clients programs becoming increasingly sophisticated. On the other hand
in the mobile world text only SMS messages are still dominant. TheWireless
Village aims to bring the concept of feature-rich instant messaging into the
mobile phone. In this thesisI attempt to implementa new service using the
Presence Attributein theWirelessVillageprotocol.
