The research in the Electronics area is a balanced effort combining system aspects in circuit design with hardware development in emerging technologies as well as knowledge architectures. Within the Circuit and Systems (CAS), we consider tools and design for the construction of intergrated circuits including signal processors (ASIC, DSP), analog circuits, as well as circuits with a mixture of analog and digital signals. We also host the VINNOVA Industrial Excellence Center, System Design on Silicon. The Nanoelectronics effort focusses on the development on 60 GHz pulse-based devices and systems as well as the development of III-V MOSFETs and their applications. These emerging technologies complement the established technologies. Research in Web Science (a name coined by MIT) deals specifically with digital information systems and knowledge architectures where we pool expertise in ambient systems and Web technology to the benefit of intelligent, knowledge-intensive systems.
Education is an important aspect in the group and we host an international master program in the area of System on Chip. The core of the course package includes analogue, digital, radio, and mixed-mode circuit design that may be combined with research oriented courses in the respective areas.
