BPM test stand for ESS

It is important to accurately know the position of the beam inside a linear accelerator, such as the ESS. This is measured by a number of methods. In order to be able to evaluate these measurement systems, we need a test-bench that simulates the beam and makes it possible to make tests without having to use the actual accelerator itself. The aim of the project is to build a test setup for testing the response of Beam Position Pick-ups, using a movable wire to simulate the beam. The system is to be automated by use of Labview. The master thesis is done within the EIT project of designing parts of the ESS accelerator.
