The networking and security group at EIT deals with system architecture and security aspects of tele and data communication. The research is focused on a few research areas. One area is network design and optimization, including multi-layer core networks, intra-domain IP routing and inter domain routing optimization. This research area targets next generation Internet and optical networks.

Research areas also include performance analysis and protocol design for wireless networks, e.g., cross layer protocol design.

The security research is mainly focused on the design and analysis of encryption primitives, including security evaluations, attack methods and both software and hardware performance of stream ciphers.
